Hours of work: 39.5 hours per week / Term time only plus 5 training days

Harrow Gate Primary Academy is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, nurturing and skilled Level 3 Nursery Practitioner to join our dedicated Early Years team.

Working alongside the EYFS Lead, teachers and other practitioners, you will help provide high-quality care and education within a safe, welcoming and stimulating Early Years environment.
You will support children’s learning and development through carefully planned activities, observations, assessments and responsive interactions. You will work with individual children and small groups, promote communication and language development and provide targeted support for children with a range of additional needs.
Our Early Years provision places communication, language and strong relationships at its heart. Children’s needs are identified early so that appropriate teaching, intervention and support can be provided before gaps widen.
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification.
- Has experience of supporting children’s learning in Nursery or Reception.
- Has secure knowledge of child development and the Early Years curriculum.
- Understands how to support children’s prime areas of learning.
- Can support children’s early communication, reading, writing and mathematical development.
- Can establish warm, trusting and secure relationships with children.
- Has high expectations for every child, including children with SEND and those facing barriers to learning.
- Can use observations and assessments to respond to children’s individual needs.
- Communicates positively and professionally with parents, carers, colleagues and external professionals.
- Is calm, flexible, reliable and able to use initiative.
- Understands the importance of safeguarding, confidentiality and professional conduct
Experience of supporting children with SEND, including communication and interaction needs, speech and language difficulties, SEMH needs, sensory needs or physical difficulties, would be particularly welcomed.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment in which children feel secure and valued.
- Encourage children’s curiosity, independence, confidence and enjoyment of learning.
- Plan and deliver purposeful play and learning activities for individuals and small groups.
- Promote children’s communication, language and vocabulary throughout the provision.
- Contribute to observations, assessments, planning and reviews of children’s progress.
- Provide targeted support and interventions for children with additional needs.
- Work closely with parents, carers and external professionals.
- Support children’s personal care, eating and toileting needs sensitively and respectfully.
- Promote positive behaviour through consistent routines, secure relationships and appropriate support.
- Maintain high standards of supervision, health, safety and safeguarding.
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the academy.
