About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, caring, and committed Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team.

The successful candidate will work on a 1:1 basis with a child with autism within a mainstream school setting, providing daily support to help them achieve their individual learning, communication, social, and personal development goals.

You will play a key role in delivering tailored learning opportunities, implementing communication and sensory support strategies, and promoting the child's independence and wellbeing. Working closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals, you will contribute to creating a safe, nurturing, and highly inclusive learning environment where the child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a child with autism throughout the school day.
  • Support the delivery of personalised learning programmes and interventions.
  • Implement communication, sensory, and behaviour support strategies as directed.
  • Encourage the child's social interaction, emotional wellbeing, and independence.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEND professionals, and families.
  • Monitor progress and contribute to reviews of the child's individual targets.
  • Help maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with children with autism.
  • Is patient, compassionate, and adaptable.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Can build positive relationships with children, staff, and families.
  • Is committed to supporting inclusion and achieving the best outcomes for every child.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a significant difference to a child's educational journey while being part of a dedicated and welcoming school community.

We strongly encourage interested candidates to visit the school and meet the child prior to submitting an application. This is a valuable opportunity to learn more about the role, meet our supportive team, and see how you could make a meaningful difference to the child's development and success within our school community.
