About the role

To work towards achieving the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification while supporting the delivery of high-quality care, learning, and development opportunities for children aged 0-5 years. The apprentice will develop knowledge, skills, and behaviours in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and nursery policies, ensuring children are cared for in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment.

Key Responsibilities

Childcare and Education

  • Support the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities that promote children's learning and development.
  • Assist in creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children.
  • Support children's personal, social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development.
  • Observe, monitor, and record children's progress under the guidance of qualified staff.
  • Promote positive behaviour and support children in developing independence and confidence.

Safeguarding and Welfare

  • Follow safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, and confidentiality policies at all times.
  • Ensure the welfare and wellbeing of children is always prioritised.
  • Report any concerns regarding a child's welfare to the designated safeguarding lead.
  • Support safe mealtimes, sleep routines, personal care, and hygiene practices.

Partnership with Parents and Colleagues

  • Build positive and professional relationships with parents, carers, and visitors.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and contribute to team meetings.
  • Support the sharing of information regarding children's care and development.

Apprenticeship Responsibilities

  • Attend all apprenticeship training sessions and complete coursework within required deadlines.
  • Maintain a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate progress and competency.
  • Work towards achieving the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification and End-Point Assessment.
  • Apply learning from training to everyday practice within the nursery.

General Duties

  • Assist with setting up and tidying activities and learning environments.
  • Support outings, special events, and enrichment activities where appropriate.
  • Adhere to all nursery policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
