A Place of Discovery and Opportunity
Located on the site of East Whitby Primary Academy, just a short walk from the town centre and its many attractions, the Streonshahl Centre was created in response to a growing need: to ensure that every child, regardless of background, has access to enriching, curriculum-linked residential experiences.
With the rising cost of traditional residential trips, many pupils were missing out on these vital opportunities. The Streonshahl Centre changes that—providing a high-quality, affordable, and inclusive residential experience that supports learning, builds confidence, and creates lasting memories.
Centre Facilities
Purpose-built to support both comfort and learning, the centre includes:
- 6 ensuite pupil bedrooms, each sleeping up to 6 pupils
- 2 ensuite bedrooms for visiting party leaders
- Multi-function room for group activities and learning
- Fully equipped kitchen
- Accessible toilet facilities
- Outdoor play area with a fire pit for evening activities
Learning Beyond the Classroom
Since opening in September 2024, the centre has welcomed numerous 3-day, 2-night visits from ELT academies. Each visit is carefully planned in collaboration with academy leaders to align with the curriculum and enhance classroom learning through hands-on, real-world experiences.
The centre is managed by Megan Suggitt and Tiffany Rollins, who work closely with visiting staff to ensure every stay is smooth, safe, and impactful. Their dedication ensures that each visit is tailored, engaging, and of the highest quality.
